Marketing Right
August 13, 2008 – 10:19 pmThe other day, I was telling my dad that The Store is actually owned by AOEN, the company that owns the Jusco chain of stores. It is just that The Store caters to middle class shoppers while Jusco is supposed to cater to upper middle class shoppers, but then it does not make sense that items sold at The Store are generally more expensive than other shopping malls of the same class. I don’t know which marketing company taught them so but then both businesses seem to be flourishing.
Marketing is actually a very interesting subject. I used to study marketing when I was in college, but then I dropped out of college after a couple of months. However, I have continued to “study” how marketing could influence consumers and their spending.
No matter if we are in retail or whatever business, marketing is very important. If we managed to market a product in the right way, targeting the right demography, we could see our sales shoot up. I have seen how a product which has been receiving lukewarm response from consumers suddenly receives support after going through a repackaging and rebranding.
Of course, whether a product or company requires a total redo or just adopt a small change, this would require the professional input of a reputable marketing company. After all, marketing a product, company or services in the right way requires funds!
