New Permatang Pauh MP, New Hope
August 28, 2008 – 11:19 amI was filling up gas last evening and a random stranger, who was also doing the same, told me that despite the reduced fuel prices, we would not be feeling much of a difference. Living in Ipoh, we are also experiencing the financial pinch despite the lower cost of living mainly because of lower earning power and lesser opportunities.
He told me that I should go to the city and see that people could still afford to drive luxury cars while it is the poor people like us who “die” faster. I was thinking, here he is driving a newer and bigger car than I, if he “dies” what about me?
He then concluded that with Anwar Ibrahim back in Parliament, he hopes that the economy will improve. Well, what do you think? I think that all families should be provided with some form of social relief like what the Americans received a few months ago. That would certainly help us tide through rough times.
