Competition From SuperBid
September 7, 2008 – 9:13 pmIf you have been reading my blog, I am sure you would have heard of Lelong SuperBid which was launched about three weeks ago. While I thought that it was a pretty good idea for Lelong to come out with an auction blitz where items are being auctioned off at an amazingly low price of RM1, much like Bidz.com which start their auctions at US$1, some Lelong Sellers are having a different opinion.
According to them, most of their Buyers are already looking forward to Fridays which are preview day and Wednesdays, which are auction days. Hhmm I know that they will do so since this is a new concept here in Malaysia, however, it s not as if they will always get to bid on what they want since the items that are placed on auction are still very much controlled by Lelong.
Sooner or later, these buyers will come back to their favourite sellers and purchase their regular items. Of course, this is just my personal opinion and this is still new. Even so, I think that SuperBid will only cultivate a habit of shopping online among Malaysians who have been afraid or distrustful of shopping or bidding online. Once they get hold of how the system works, I am sure they will take time to explore the other items that are on sale or auction in the Lelong marketplace and eventually eBay Malaysia.
