Free Spectacles For Presbyopia (Old Age Long Sightedness)

September 7, 2008 – 8:44 pm

The other day, I received information that a newly opened optical store in my neighborhood is giving away a few hundred free pairs of spectacles for Presbyopia. I was a little excited because I love freebies. I told my dad about it and asked if he wanted to get a pair since it was free.

However, upon reading the fine print, it mentioned that they require a copy of our identification card. Whatever for? No way are we going to hand out our identification card, even if it’s just a photocopy, for a pair of glasses that only costs them RM5 at most.

Do you know that unscrupulous people could use a photocopy of our identification card to take a loan from loan sharks? That’s why we are not supposed to simply give away our card, yes, even photocopied ones! In any case, always read the fine print and if it sounds too good to be true, think twice.
