Phishing eMail Again
September 5, 2008 – 12:59 amI received an email just now purportedly from an eBay member who said that he/she has won a bid on my item, paid for it and has still not received any package from me. Obviously, that is a phishing email and I get so many of them I don’t even think I need to provide a screenshot here on my blog. You see one, you see them all.
Firstly, this email message was sent to a slew of email addresses. I don’t know how this person got hold of my email address but he/she did. However, the email did not address me by name, and it was just to “Dear …………..,” which gives a sense of “fill in the blanks” kind of form letter.
Also, although the email may look like an official mail sent via the eBay messaging system, clicking on the Respond Now button directs one to another website. Probably this website will be able to log our eBay login ID and password.
This buyer has a really high rating (red star) and he/she threatens to report all of us, whom he/she has made payment to, to eBay if we do not respond to the message and ship out the item as far as possible.
Well, as far I am concerned, I have already trashed that email. Don’t ever click on links in mail like these!

That is what exactly happend to me also earlier today. But since I am new on E-bay I wasn’t sure weither the e-mail was fake or not, so I decided to investigate it, because it seemed a little bit too suspecious, but I ended up here in your blog and thanks to that I now know what to do next - Delete it from my e-mail and be carefull in the future.
I heard about people who DID believe it and lost a lot of money.. That is why you better watch out and be carefull because people will do almost everything to steal from you.
