It was because my hard disk crashed and the technician reinstalled my operating system and in the process wiping out my data without backing up. I was royally pissed off of course, but recently, I was told that I could salvage my data with disaster recovery software. I wished that I know of this earlier.
If you run a server, you should back up your data regularly. You know, my work depends heavily on the computer and internet technology but I still do not trust it entirely. If an accident happens that causes you to lose data, you could try the disaster recovery software.
