Self-Fulfillment
October 1, 2008 – 9:49 amThis morning, a friend asked me if I really like running an online store and working for myself. Yes, I do, and I have no regrets going this route. However, my one regret is that I did not work hard enough to put myself through college. I know that education is important yet I did not take it seriously. As a working person, I feel the “lack” especially when everyone I meet has at least a college degree.
I know that I could easily rectify my shortfall by enrolling myself in an online university. The problem, though, is that I would not be able to devote my time on books yet. Not yet.
However, I do know that even though I may never require a college degree to earn a living, it would still be great to BE a college graduate, if only for self-fulfillment. I know that I would definitely feel better about myself if I have clocked more time in college.

One Response to “Self-Fulfillment”
You have to ask yourself if a college degree, when you don’t actually need it, will really add to your self-fulfillment, or is it just a vanity thing. In all my years, I have never found my degree help me. In some fields, it is critical. But not in mine. I could go for further education, or I could spend time with my kids, or I could get fit, or I could enjoy the outdoors. There are so many paths to self-fulfillment; you have to decide what is the best way to spend the finite hours in your day, what gives you the best SFOI (self-fulfillment on investment).
