Returned To Sender

November 10, 2008 – 11:31 am

As an online seller, I think it’s lucky that I do not have to meet with my customers face-to-face. You know, people in sales know that they need to keep smiling no matter how angry or upset they are with their customers.

Even so, there are things that stress me out even though there is no direct interaction. One of them is having my packages returned to sender because the buyers failed to pack them up from the post office.

Just as I am busying myself with a new consignment, I have a package returned to me this morning. I can’t understand how someone could buy something and then just ignore it. If I were the buyer, I would want the item in my hands as soon as possible. It’s not about the money I spent buying; it’s the fact that I want it that I bought it, right?

This is not the first time, though. Over the past few years, I have had a handful of packages returned to me just for this same reason and I can’t do anything about it if these buyers then failed to return my messages. I can’t even do anything about their items. I leave them unopened until one day they realize that they have an unclaimed package with me.
