Placing My Debit Card On File With eBay Malaysia

Recently, eBay Malaysia has made it complusory for all Sellers to place their credit card on file. This is just another step towards a fool proof billing system and indicates that soon, eBay Malaysia would no longer be a free auction site but a premium auction site like eBay.com, eBay.co.uk and eBay.com.au, just to name a few.

Anyway, all along I did not have my credit card with them, because frankly, I am not comfortable placing my credit card information with ANY website. I decided to place my debit card with them, since I still want to trade on eBay.com.my.

After a few days of being thrown one error message after another, my Public Bank Visa debit card was finally accepted. I don’t know why it was not accepted the first few days. There must have been a glitch in the system or something. Luckily it did not block my card, like PayPal would.

A debit card on file provides me with peace of mind, compared to a credit card. After all, I do not keep any balance on the card except for the minimum amount required so at least I have some control over the card and am not afraid of it being charged without my knowledge.
