It looks like the inclusion of Moneybookers (USA) as a payment gateway on eBay in addition to PayPal has upped its business and value. The company, which is second largest eWallet in the world after PayPal, but fastest growing in Europe is for sale and the estimated value is EUR400 million.
are the chances of it being bought over by PayPal, do you think? eBay acknowledges that PayPal plays a significant role in the profitability and sustainability of the company seeing how it managed to prop up eBay as its marketplace declined over the end of 2008.
As PayPal ventures into mobile payment gateway by partnering with Research In Motion (RIMM) in their sale of Blackberry apps, I think Moneybookers would make a good buy for them.
On the other hand, I know that there are a couple of companies who are dying to venture into the eWallet business but have been unable to obtain a license. This is definitely a chance not to be missed.
