One-Leg-Kick Girl
November 4, 2009 – 12:50 pmAs a self-employed home based worker, one thing that I DO NOT like is that my family doesn’t get it that just because I am around doesn’t mean that I am free. Since my “office” is my home, of course I would be around, right? But my family would ask me to get things done for them or run errands for them without realizing that I should be working.
This morning, the kitchen tap was leaking and my mother was nagging me to get it changed. She said that the water bill is running even though the leak was slight and we have to change the tap quickly. Normally, I leave these handyman tasks to my father but he has gone out of town so I went to the hardware store, bought a bar faucet upon their recommendation and changed the tap myself.
Anyway, as you can see, I’m like a one-leg-kick girl around the house, working on my business at the same time doing my share of household chores. That’s fine, except that I am asked to do them at the wrong time. Like today, my morning is over and I haven’t gotten my own work done which means that once again, I will be losing sleep tonight.
