New, Smaller Coins

Bank Negara Malaysia has issued a new series of coins, which are smaller than the old batch. This has caused inconvenience to users, particularly when they slot these new coins into vending machines, like parking machines.

These machines have to be recalibrated but not all machines have been taken care of yet, with some operators claiming that they did not know of this change. Bank Negara has urged the public to call their hotline 03-2690 7307 or 03-2698 8044 (ext 8252) if they came across such machines.
