PayPal Guest Check Out

June 27, 2008 – 10:41 pm

Although PayPal is super popular already and it looks like there is no one without a PayPal account, I understand that there are still people without PayPal and it has gotten difficult for these people to shop on eBay now that eBay has integrated PayPal as the primary mode of payment.

For people who have PayPal phobia, they are allowed to try out the service as a guest. I read about PayPal’s guest check out a long time ago and I am writing from memory right now.

If I remember correctly, shoppers are allowed to use the PayPal guest checkout feature for five times. So they can actually shop on eBay as usual and then pay for their wining items via PayPal as a guest. It is hoped that once they have tried out the online payment service, they would be trust PayPal enough to register their own account.

Studying At Your Own Pace

June 27, 2008 – 10:38 pm

My friend, Henry, wanted to know when I would be going back to school. He said that he could not hire me even if he wanted to as it is company policy to only hire staff with minimum university degree. This does not mean that anyone without a university education would not be smart or would not be able to perform at work but his company is unwilling to invest time, money and resources on someone without university education.

Oh well, I have long wanted to enroll in an online university degree because I love the convenience of studying from home, or anywhere with an internet connection plus the fact that I could study at my own pace and still keep working on my projects.

However, so far, I have not even taken the trouble to research on accredited online universities and I only know of Capella University. I did check out the programs that they offer. There are so many that if I could, I would want to enroll in a few courses at the same time, sort of like playing catch up for lost time!

With the ease of studying from home at my convenience, going back to school does not seem as far fetched anymore!

Free For Life

June 27, 2008 – 10:29 pm

The other day, I was out shopping when I was cornered by a bunch of credit card sales people. They urged me to apply for a credit card because it is “free for life” and I know that they have a quota to meet. I kind of pity them but then no way am I going to get myself more credit cards and be tempted to swipe them to qualify for “free for life” no thanks to the minimum amount swiped per year.

Credit cards can be good and can be evil as well. It depends on how we use it. However, I think I’ve got enough accounts for the time being to manage another card.

Did I tell you that there was once where I totally forgot my log In ID and password to my online bank account and I had to call in to customer service to get my account unlocked? Yeah, too many private data stored in my brain!

Venturing Into Ladies’ Fashion

June 27, 2008 – 2:15 pm

I am at the moment in talks with a supply to supply me with ladies’ fashion apparel from Hog Kong, China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan. I am very excited about a new opportunity to expand my range of products offered on CyberPartyGal’s WebStore, and offering something to my Buyers that complements my sale of imported lingerie.

I had thought that I would like to sell ladies’ shoes, particularly pumps and heels, but I have not been able to secure a supplier even today mainly because of their stiff terms. However, I do still continue to source for a reliable supplier and it is my hope to expand CyberPartyGal’s WebStore into a more well rounded online retailer offering a wider range of ladies’ items.

I hope that talks with this supplier will be fruitful and I could start offering ladies fashion apparel on CyberPartyGal’s WebStore. It is a good thing that I am a simple person myself, or I would have kept everything for myself and not sell them!

New Stationery, New Rubber Stamps

June 27, 2008 – 5:12 am

A friend has approached me to be his partner in a new business. Well, it will not be exactly a new business for me but it would be an entirely new venture for him. He proposes that we joint venture and sell ladies’ apparel online. I figured that I should keep my business and this partnership separate so we should get new stationary, print new postcards and business cards and make a new rubber stamp!

If you are thinking that I would be going through too much trouble, let’s just say that having these, especially our very own custom rubber stamps would create a more professional impression of our company. This is especially important since it would be a web-based business and with a professional image projected, besides being more convenient, our buyers would then take us seriously and place their trust on us.

I learned of Rubber Stamp Champ a couple of months ago and how they provide one of the best prices for rubber stamps with free shipping thrown in. If this partnership is formed, then I would have the chance to try out their service. Can you imagine getting hand stamps for as low as US$3.99 only and self-inking stamps from as low as US$6.25 only? Yes, these are being offered by Rubber Stamp Champ. I better grab them fast before the offer expires!

Are You Looking For A Spa Job?

June 25, 2008 – 6:59 pm

The other day, I was chatting with a friend and we were saying that how we absolutely cannot afford to lose our jobs. The last time this friend lost his job, it took him almost a YEAR to look for another job. It does not matter if you are looking for a spa job or an office job, it’s an employer’s market now.

By the way, if you really are looking for a spa job or a job in the beauty industry, do check out BeautyJobs.com, which is like an online site that connects everyone in the beauty business, whether they have a post to be filled or looking for a post to fill.

I think that it’s very forward thinking to create such a virtual meeting place for everyone involved in the industry. Looking for the right job or the right candidate for a job is always tough, what more when it’s a niche job.

Victoria’s Secret Reseller Program

June 25, 2008 – 6:26 pm

A friend who wants to venture into online sales like myself asked me if there is a Victoria’s Secret reseller program. I don’t think so. If they do, I think I would also participate, that is, if they are open to international resellers.

I think that being a reseller is great in the sense that most of your headaches would be taken care of and all you need is to take care of sales and fight with other resellers for attention, traffic and ultimately, business. LOL

I have actually researched a few reseller programs of major online retailers and I am not very impressed with their terms and conditions. Most are rather stringent and they do have sales quota for resellers to meet monthly. What happens if you are unable to meet that quota? Your membership may be cancelled and whatever commission that you have earned may be forfeited as well.

It’s a pretty tough business even being a reseller. That’s why I think it is still best to work for ourselves and playing by our own rules.

Petroleum Dealers Association of Malaysia Rejects Credit Cards

June 25, 2008 – 6:17 pm

Petroleum Dealers Association of Malaysia has urged all their members to stop accepting credit cards from customers. This is because that while their profit per litre of petrol or diesel remains the same, their transaction fee has gone up. Petrol stations need to pay banks 1% commission for every credit card transaction and they claim that this is eating into their profit margin.

I personally think that they are doing the right thing by rejecting credit card transactions rather than absorbing the commission or forcing customers to absorb it. Since they are not making money they should stop doing the business. They too need to change with times.

Of course, this inconvenient motorists because it means that they would need to pay cash each time they fill their tank. In a way, this would also cause hardship on people because it just dawned on me that some people are buying fuel on credit! This should not be the case but times are bad. Don’t you just see more and more people getting into credit card debt?

Buying Unique Wedding Favors

June 25, 2008 – 6:07 pm

My friend, Julie, who helps brides plan their weddings for free, told me that she has been spending a considerable amount of time looking for unique wedding favors this past month. Summer is here and there are couples getting married. Julie said that she tries her best to make each wedding that she plans an exceptional experience for the bridal couple. That’s why she cannot see herself buying the same wedding favors for all her brides.

According to Julie, she has been buying unique wedding favors online because there is a wider selection of quality unique wedding favors that are not too expensive. Bridal couples now try to limit their budget due to increasing cost of living and they don’t want to start a new life in debt. Well, that’s understandable.

Julie pointed me to the wedding shop of The Knot, just to show me the array of wedding favors available and I must say that I am impressed with their quality wedding favors. If you are looking for quality unique wedding favors that are priced reasonably, you should check the site out too!

La Senza’s Limited Time Mega Sale

June 25, 2008 – 5:53 pm

I received an email from La Senza informing me that they are running a mega sale and that it will expire soon. I searched their website but could not find when this mega sale will end.

Anyway, their ultimate t-shirt bras are starting from CAD8.50 only, or two for CAD36.50. Is this cheap enough? And their thongs and g-strings are sold from CAD3. I think that they are pretty reasonable. If only we do not have to pay for shipping, eh?

I personally like La Senza’s colours more than Victoria’s Secret. La Senza looks younger and more refreshing while Victoria’s Secret can sometimes look rather “auntie-ish.” What do you think?
